In short
This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and loads nothing from third parties: fonts and images come from our own server. For anonymous visitor statistics we use Plausible, also on our own infrastructure.
Hosting
The website and the visitor statistics run on our own infrastructure at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, in a data centre in Nuremberg. Hetzner processes the data solely on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The data does not leave Germany.
Visiting the website
To deliver a page, your browser necessarily transmits data such as IP address, date and time, requested address, referrer and browser identifier. We process it only to deliver the page and secure the connection. We do not keep access logs containing this data.
Technical messages from our servers, such as error messages, are kept for at most 30 days to detect and fix faults.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Visitor statistics with Plausible
We use Plausible Analytics, self-hosted at plausible.moellenbeck-digital.io. The data stays on our infrastructure and is not passed to anyone.
Plausible works without cookies and without persistent identifiers. It records the page visited, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and country and region derived from the IP address. The IP address itself is not stored: to count a day's visits, a hash is formed from IP address and browser identifier with a key that changes daily; it is worthless after 24 hours and allows no conclusions about you.
We also count how often buttons for self-hosting, the guide, the source code and getting in touch are clicked and in which part of the page. No content, names or email addresses are recorded.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving how the website is used (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). As nothing beyond what is technically necessary is stored on or read from your device, no consent under § 25 TDDDG is required.
Contact by email
If you write to us, for example via “Register interest” or “Request a call”, we process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message to answer your request.
Our email runs on Google Workspace by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, under a data processing agreement. A transfer to Google LLC in the USA cannot be ruled out; it takes place on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Google is certified.
The legal basis is the initiation or performance of a contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR), otherwise our legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete messages once they are no longer needed; statutory retention obligations, for example for business correspondence under commercial and tax law, remain unaffected.
Links to other sites
Links to the source code and releases lead to GitHub. Only when you follow them do you leave this website, and GitHub's privacy policy applies.
Customers of setup and operation
This policy covers the website. Where we process personal data on behalf of a customer as part of “Run by us” or a maintenance package, a separate data processing agreement applies.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). An informal email to the address above is enough.
Right to object: where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf.
You are not obliged to provide data; without the technically necessary data, however, the website cannot be delivered. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling.
